Wrong Cut — Devlog #1: Hello, and welcome to the bomb
Hi — this is the first devlog for Wrong Cut, a free browser party game we've been building in early access.
Five players. One bomb. Who do you trust?
Wrong Cut is a hidden-role social deduction game. Everyone shares the same bomb with colored wires. Each round you talk on voice chat, play ability cards, and vote on which wire to cut. Cuts move a shared success/fail meter on the bomb. The Crew wants to defuse it; the Saboteurs want it to explode — or simply run out the clock.
Roles are secret. The Technician runs real wire scans. The Saboteur knows which color is volatile. The Deceiver fakes scans and sows doubt. Civilians have to read the table and win the argument. Nobody sees the full truth — only fragments from private hints, cards, and whatever people choose to say out loud.
Why I built it
I wanted a party game that actually lives on conversation — not just button clicks. Voice chat isn't optional here; it's the game.
The digital board handles hidden information, voting, and effects. Your group handles accusations, bluffs, and panic.
No accounts, no paywall. Pick a display name, share a room code, and play.
Where things stand
Wrong Cut is in active early development. Core loop works: lobby → discussion → vote → cut → repeat until someone wins. Ability cards, wire types, the gutter system, pre-vote phase, and inconclusive vote drama are all in and being tuned based on real sessions.
Things still moving:
- balance passes on cards and wire types
- UI polish and readability
- playtest feedback from Discord sessions
If something feels off — a card too strong, a rule unclear, a moment confusing — we want to hear it.
How to play
- 5 players + voice chat (Discord or any VOIP)
- Browser: wrongcut.com
- Rules & card gallery: in-game via

You can also play the embedded build here on itch.io — same game, same server.

What's next
More playtests, more balance, more clarity. We're especially watching late-game tension (when the clock gets low and every vote matters) and whether new tools like Area Search — removing a revealed gutter effect mid-match — open up interesting counterplay.
Thanks for being here early. Every session helps shape what Wrong Cut becomes.
— see you at the bomb
